Website Change Log

This page contains some private notes on the content updates to the website in a chronological fashion

Of late it is sparsely maintained :-(

20061029  Apple Developer Connection Library added into Static content

20061030  Updated Frontpage after watching "An Inconvenient Truth".

20061101  Blog updates 24 trailer,  new iLounge iPod catalogue

20061103  Updated Frontpage for Zune

20061122  <Flame on> Having spent literally several hundred of hours converting my resume to rich web format I understand that certain half-witted individuals need a Microsoft Word format document so they can include this into their database.  I have pointed out that in over 15 years of consulting, never once has their database ever turned up a single relevant offer, and, that searching for jobs myself, or being invited has been my way forward.  But  it is no good. So under intense pressure I have back converted the HTML into a hyperlinked word document.  </Flame on>

20061202   Topical updates as Mr Zune becomes available.  The top secret wiki is now accessible though the weblink is not public.  Also it get overwritten daily from another master, so don't edit it anybody.  The Blog is being updated regularly and brings into question the future of the Technology page which is much more of a bother to keep up to date.

20070102 The Big scan is on.  I returned from the UK via India with a heap on more Cromemco Documents.  As usual the HP 7410 Tout-en un  (as it says on the all in one unit) is now busy scanning.  I have to hand feed nearly each page though as these documents are old, but until now nowhere on the Internet.

20070210 More scanning.  More Cromemco Documents have been retrieved.  I joined up to Wikipedia and am transforming the Cromemco section.  Although WikiPedia keeps sending me threatening messages about photo copyrights.  I have tried putting fair use, no copyright but has not quelled its anger yet.  Also I have found a way to rescan existing image PDF's to remove speckle and most importantly OCR them into text and then resave as PDF. Marvellous.

20070212  Had to update many of the CV links because the maben.homeip.net references have changed.  For example all the software is now in 1 subdirectory meaning all the Digital Resarch Inc  (DRI) links have had to be re-written

20070212 I found out that Mr Google is continuing to offer up the old website mypage.bluewin.ch/maben1/ even though all the content is deleted. I am shocked.  So it you pick one of these pages it goes nowhere.  In an effort to keep things civilised and working I extended the JavaScript redirects from mypage.bluewin.ch/maben1/index.html to other known directories in the nonexistent maben1 filespace.

20070215 After returning to hot  (yes 10 degrees in February) Switzerland, hot foot from England (via India) the scanner has been 100% busy.  More high def, OCR processed Cromemco scans are here

20070226 Adding Cromemco and Fulcrum and CompuPro searchable PDF scans

20070227 Adding Macrotech SS256, IMS brochures, Nec Spinwriter, Cromemco RDOS App Notes,Persci 277 and 299 and 1170 brochures, Cromemco SUDS misc, Fulcrum VIO-X, full 1982 range, MPU-B

20070228 Scans added Cromemco 68000 Cobol, Cromemco 68000 Fortran 77

20070305 Wahoo,  my first **new** Cromemco computer arrived today and with it some new Cromemco UNIX V.2 manuals.  Not to mention the Cromemco System 250 manuals. So they have been al been scanned.  Also the classic Bell System Technical Journal of July 1978 .. ah the memories.

20070307 Added Z80 Assembler programming and IEEE 696 S100 bus interfacing.  Another 2 classic texts

20070310 Some of my carefully preserved University texts have arrived from England.  They are being scanned of course.

20070311 Yes more scanning today Including  Programming Methods, Operational Analysis, Managerial Economics, History of Political Thought,  Introduction to Politics, Computational Structures,  Engineering Design Methods, Thermodynamics 1, Final year Thesis, Production Engineering,

20070329 The big upgrade on the maben.homeip.net was made to Vista Business. Sad in a way because I had struggled hard to get Windows XP64 configuration working nicely.  So all that "find those 64 bit drivers" out of  nowhere work got thrown away when I went back to 32bits.  This is only because Microsoft did not send me the 64 Bit Vista code.  Grumpy I am!

20070401  The Vista and IIS7 was only up for 2 days when there was an unexplained failure and I have spent 1 day rebuilding the Vista configuration.  I think all the data Webpages are back again, perhaps some of the S100 photos placed in the last few days have been lost.  Er, I used Vista image backup to make a backup on a different physical 750GB drive this time.  I macro substituted the references to non port 80 sites on maben.homeip.net back to port 80 now that this has been opened up. So now whilst sitting at Mr Corporate (who typically restrict you to browsing port 80) I can get thru to home to check all is well.  Nothing like paranoia eh?

20070402  My large Cromemco shipment arrived from England.  Old machines and more manuals.  So the scanning begins again.  I am in scanning heaven :-)

20070403 Added Cromemco CDOS manuals, Cromemco Cromix Users Reference Manual (we already have them but I am now scanning alternative revisions), a PRI manual , 64FDC, Cromemco Introduction to Cromix-Plus, STDC,   Over 2000 pages tonight, that makes me feel very happy indeed!

20070409 And the latest scans tonight are Altair photographs and Altos ACS 8000, Commodore Pet, Some Digital Research CPM 8000, Heathkit, Polymorphic, Seattle Computer Systems, Zilog ZDS

20070410 Multiple copies of Cromemco Cromix-Plus User and and Cromix-Plus Programmers Manual Scanned.  Found some Cromemco Informix manuals and started their scanning

20070420  In the last 10 days I have made copies of 3 major Internet CPM archives.  They are

CPM Users group   http://maben.homeip.net/static/S100/message%20boards/CPM%20Users%20Group/index.html

SIGM Users Group http://maben.homeip.net/static/S100/message%20boards/SIGM%20Users%20Group/index.html

SIMTEL archive  http://maben.homeip.net/static/S100/message%20boards/SIMTEL%20CPM%20Message%20Archive/index.html

Also there is the Walnut Creek CD-ROM archive

http://maben.homeip.net/static/S100/software/Walnut%20Creek/index.html

Well these are 4 huge catalogs of messages, software and information.  I don't think I am going to go in an organise it, too large a task and would need the associated machines to test it on.

20070429 The Queen Mary College University Notes collection archive  is now online.   It was a joyous moment when I reread and scanned 5 years of hard University work and slightly heart wrenching as it then moved into the shredder.  But it is now online for posterity.

20070508  Yet more scans are in.  Updates to Heathkit i.e. HeathZenithVector Graphic, IMS Associates i.e. IMSAI

20070514 A smattering of updates including some CCS California Computer Systems.  I have filed but not had chance to use the Cromix PCCOM transfer utilities yet so they are both untested and not definitively categorised.

20070516 Cromemco CDOS is now up and running on my testbed system so the next step is to somehow make a connection to the PC.  Meanwhile the 1983 diskette catalog  (already transferred with ccall in 1983 !! <foresight>) has enabled me to understand what the priorities are for transfer to PC.   I was already able to locate the Cromemco Z80 CXDR Cromix IO Drivers.  I am thrilled to report this is now added to the website  CXDR is here

20070610 Post holiday depression and minor website and Blog updates

20070613 North Star Dimension documentation added

20070616 Added high resolution Cromemco photographs,  Modula2 programming language, Z80 Emulator for the PC

20070710 A lot more S100 or S-100 bus additions mainly photographs.  The toplevel link is here

20070712 Updates to the 1TB disk club here

20070716 A lot of additions to numerous to mention.  In essence the main update is the slow, laborious transfer of my approximately 25 year old plus diskette images.  The treasure trove is here and the top secret catalog is here

20070718 I put an image both in tarfiles and also in flat files of my Cromemco Cromix 172 68020 XXU system here  Actually all the .tar files are created using ftar -cuv  filename.tar.  In other words use the UNIX -u compatibility flag.  On a PC vista or 2003 can open the archive directly, you do not need something like WinZip etc.  Added more things like the Linux Kernel O'Reilly PDFs

20070724  Now with added Heathkit

20070729  More retro additions include MAI systems, Tandy, DynaByte, some Altos code

20070801 On this Swiss National holiday I managed to Scan in Introduction to PCIX and XENIX by Peter Brown with Paul Szilard and Stephen Weeks ISBN 0-201-10928.PDF

20070801 Managed to rescue system02 Seagate ST251 hard disk and rescue the 1MB Cromix 167 boot partition

20070807 More updates: Quantum 1980s prospectus,  DRI (Digital Research) Digital Dialogue magazine, Al Shugart career overview

20070813 So many static website updates I am almost lost for words  the IBM XT Technical Reference was a bit of a find, and several IBM PS/2 MicroChannel Adapter references too.  The magazine reference section is being updated nightly.  A major undertaking, please check it out.

20070823 More static webpage updates.  Due to the broken foot episode I am hopping mad and not so productive.

20070826 I never thought that a Byte magazine could give me so much pleasure

20070907 Further Byte archives are being made

20071001 More Byte Scanning. 1 days holiday and a full days scanning makes this the most expensive web collection ever.  1978 BYTE is here

20071012 Well a long break.  I have been experimenting with Microsoft Web Expression and Adobe CS DreamWeaver.  The code on my  website is now so hopelessly non standard that for now DreamWeaver can't hack it.

20071024 Now all the Cromemco's are up the code section of the Static Website is busier than ever

20071105 So many updates.  The Cromemco Disk collection is growing with Cromix 31.05 and 11.16 and 11.27 listings and files.  Tandon and Maxtor and PC BIOS listings, Home Computer Wars by Michael Tomczyk, iCOM, North Star,  CDOS 02.58,

20071120 After a bout of sickness I have had some extra home time.  Enough to prepare Cromix 20.63 Cromix 30.51 Cromix 167 and now Cromix 168

20071217 Many previous updates only partially listed here mostly to static content.  SUDS versions reflects the 68000 Fortran, C compiler and 68000 Operating Systems Documents found.

Cromix 20.14 binaries now found and indexed in the catalog

20071217 Adding Mathematics, Further Maths, Physics and Chemistry A-Level notes.  Added micro Prolog 3.1 Programmers Reference Manual.  Added Cromemco Cromix 20.61 code.  Added Cromemco Cromix 20.56 code. Added 168XXU code Added 172 XXU Code

20071222 Last update before Christmas, the 2008 Audi pricing and spec guides added.  Random binaries found for Visual North Star and Ampro so added

20071228 Wahoo.  I have cloned this VPC setup and am proudly running it under Vista32 on the trusty HP laptop.  It works quite well despite the fact there  is no hardware acceleration.

20080115  CV is updated since I still have a job, and retirement is once again postponed.

20080201  This website is now being generated using MS Web Expression in legacy mode.

20080208 Updates to California Computer Systems

20080209 Rationalised the CV backup material for O and A levels that was accidentally duplicated and link syntactically incorrect

20080314  Website has been hacked and so has been deleted (content on hosting) and rebuilt.  After thefact easily sent me a mail telling me to change our  FTP passworld the clear implication was that I gave it away to somebody.  Really!

20080320 I retrieved my University Engineering report books from QMC London.  Painstakingly separated, guillotined, scanned, OCRd, indexed.  Now available here

20080330 Many Morrow Computer scans were downloaded from www.bitsavers.org and rescanned and titled and indexed and enhanced (despeckled etc)

20080331 My book Inside the IBM Risc System /6000 was scanned, cant think why I had not done this earlier

20080331 Came across one of the books from History Political Thought namely Philosophy Made Simple.  A noteworthy text since in 302 pages it just served to emphasise to me how it really was not that simple after all

20080504 A long absence due to working.  Now back with Agatas updated CV,  and the slow copying of UNIX V.2 from the restored Cromemco to the maben code repository

20090x0x Lots of updates to the maben website but I put them in the separate respective change log

Also that only documents the S100 updates since the generic datastore is updated daily

20090101 Most updates have been to the blog

20090102 Updated Job availability dates

20090123 There has been much Adobe PDF rescanning particularly of Ithaca Audio (aka Intersystems), Tandy TRS-80 and others and 6502 Micro magazine.  As an ex PET owner the 6502 was a stepping stone to greater things

20091218 Some limited updates.  Still cant figure out what to migrate this website easily too. Dreamweaver no look easy and Google sites takes too long and the functionality is limited

20100102 At last created a XP virtual machine, started up Xara since it does not work in 2003 server and redid the menu bar for the website.  That has been overdue for at least 1 year and is now finally fixed.  Still a stopgap measure as would like to migrate website.

20100103 I rewrote the frontpage of my cv and the last 4 years of entries

20010109 I added the Steve Jobs video of his talk to standford university, because like Mr Steve I found a passion and a great job too

20100712 Moving files to the Linux site

20100923 updated CV pages for Agata etc

20110717 updated CV page for agata and update IBM Switzerland experience for marcus

20111120 CV updates for agata
