Welcome to Marcus's Profile
I provide professional Level3 Storage TSM SAN AIX and UNIX support in a
multinational food and drinks company within a predominantly SAP DB2
environment. Full details
Career overview: I have been involved in the
Computer industry for over 20
years in 3 main areas: UNIX, Storage and SAP.
My very early start was due to participation in a family business "Willowbrook
Engineering", a consultancy that specialised in bespoke technical computer solutions.
In 1979 I had built my first personal UNIX computer system and after
Professional Engineering training leading to a First Class honours degree in
London England I joined IBM in the mid 80's. Since that time I have
been
involved with
every release
and beta release of IBM's UNIX product line AIX from its Interactive Systems
based PC/IX to AIX PS/2 V1 thru RIOS 6150 based V2 to early RS/6000 V3, V4 and
now V6.1 running on Enterprise class p5 and p6 servers.
Along this route I have been personally involved with the development of
associated technologies notably Storage Management and associated Disaster
Recovery, Higher speed LAN networking, Higher Availability, Storage Area
Networking and Enterprise level security.
From 1997 I was been involved in 24x7 Outsourcing Environments, initially
concerned with the build, configuration and timely support of multiple UNIX and database systems. This led me into the world of
SAP in 1998 starting with R/3 3.1I. I have been involved with the
build or upgrade, secure configuration and then 24x7 support of systems thru
4.0A, 4.5B, 4.6x and now Enterprise 4.7. I have focused on the
BASIS support side usually in an Oracle or DB2 supported corporate environments.
Since 2001 I have refocused on Enterprise Storage using SAN and TSM technologies
intertwined within an AIX 53 and SAP DB2 environment.
I am a keen advocate of Linux, Microsoft and Apple systems and besides
contributing to various Beta programs I maintain a personal SAP, Windows 2003 server and RedHat
server farm with over 10TB of secure and regularly backed up data.
I would hope my colleagues would credit me with good communication skills, the
ability to seamlessly represent my employer to its customers, substantial
teaching and marketing experience. I believe I am hard working, enthusiastic and
above all technical.
